Biography
About Me
I am a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, theater, and set design. Born in Iran, I pursued my passion for art amidst challenging political circumstances, eventually relocating to the Netherlands—a country renowned for its artistic freedom and cultural diversity. I graduated from the Constantijn Huygens Art Academy in 2000, specializing in illustration.
My artistic journey has been deeply influenced by themes of identity, displacement, and cultural heritage, often reflecting my Persian roots through a contemporary lens. From 2003 to 2009, I founded and led the Parwaz Aram dance group, where I worked as a choreographer, creating spiritual and theatrical performances. These performances were staged at prestigious venues such as the Museum Volkenkunde in Leiden, the World Forum in The Hague, and various museums, universities, and cultural festivals. My work blends visual and performing arts, offering unique storytelling experiences that resonate across cultures.
In addition to my creative practice, I have dedicated years to art education, teaching painting, sculpture, and illustration to students and community groups in the Netherlands. I have also studied under renowned artists such as Mahmoud Meraji and Hanibal Alkhas, further enriching my artistic perspective. Over the years, I have participated in numerous exhibitions and cultural festivals, showcasing my work in galleries and museums internationally.
Beyond my individual projects, I have designed and directed performances that combine spiritual and theatrical elements, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration and dialogue.
